Nelson’s big fourth quarter leads Knights
The Knights were tested heavily against a scrappy West team that refused to back down on Friday night.
The first quarter was a back and forth battle with balanced scoring from both teams, ending with a slight lead for the Falcons.
By the time the end of the second quarter rolled around, the Knights had mounted their comeback with a balanced scoring effort and energetic play from junior guards Darren Lammons and Kyle Decker and led 28-26 going into the break.
The third quarter brought another battle for North but yet again they came to fight. Several Knights came in and electrified the crowd with strong defense and tenacious rebounding. The Knights led 46-37 when the clock hit zero after a buzzer beater by Daquane Washington.
By the end of the game West Henderson’s energy had been depleted and they simply couldn’t keep up with the fast paced play of North leading to a final score of 74-52. Austin Nelson led all scorers with 23 points, with half of those coming in the fourth quarter. After the game he stressed that energetic play the key to the comeback win. Upon conclusion of the game, North improved to 4-1 overall and 1-0 in WNCAC play.

Bullock, Marsh lead Lady Knights
The Lady Knights basketball team has also got out to a hot start this season, standing at 4-1 and 1-0, beating the Lady Falcons at West in a conference match-up.
The game started close, with the lead going back and forth through the first quarter led by Teegan Bullock and Caroline Marsh for a score of 12-10 in favor of North.
The remainder of the first half brought on a barrage of three-pointers from both teams. A stingy defensive stand powered the Lady Knights through the half, limiting the Lady Falcons to only 6 points in the second quarter.
The Lady Falcons mounted a strong effort coming out of halftime, getting as close as 34-28, but the Lady Knights defense continued its tenacity into the last two quarters while the offense continued to click. Led by Teegan Bullock, North ended the game in dominant fashion, sending West packing by a final score of 49-35.
