Staff Report

This Saturday, November 10th, North Henderson’s Future Farmers of America program will be hosting a statewide competition that will have over 300 competitors from various schools throughout North Carolina in attendance.

North will be hosting the State Land Judging Career Development Event, which will involve teams traveling around the county and visiting land sites to judge soil texture. Although North cannot compete due to them being the host team, the winning FFA program will receive a $1,500 prize.

The competition will teach students and aspiring farmers the various uses for soil and how to utilize them in various environments.

The competition will be held at the WNC Agricultural Center in the Virginia Bond Building, starting at 8:00 AM.
