North Henderson Cross Country runners Hunter White and Dylan Christopher’s key to success is progression.
In August of 2015, the two runners had average times of 18 to 19 minutes per race, and finished in the top-twenty for a majority of the season.
However, this year the dynamic duo have found themselves shedding some seconds off their running times, getting their personal best times down, averaging between 16 and 17 minutes per race, and placing in the top-five and top-ten race in and race out.
Their improvements have earned the leaders of the team spots on the Western North Carolina Athletic Association all-conference Cross Country team.
Throughout this year, Hunter White compiled six top-ten finishes and Dylan Christopher tallied four top-ten finishes.
On Tuesday, they both finished in the top-ten to cap off their season at the conference meet, which led to their accomplishment.
“It was pretty great that [Dylan] and I could do this,” White said.
The two also said the desire to get better kept them motivated throughout the year and they look forward toward regional and state playoffs.
The journey will go on for White and Christopher as they participate in the 3A Regional championship at Freedom October 29th.
