On Thursday, September 29th, North Henderson lost a member of the Knight Nation family in senior Garrett Stokes.

We are sadden to hear about the sudden loss of Garrett and will keep our thoughts and prayers with the Stokes family.

Students around the county expressed their emotions on social media about Stokes, who was an uplifting person to everyone he talked to.

  1. My daughter Whitney had a terrible night because one of her best friends is no longer here to talk and laugh with. She helped get him dresses for his senior picture just a few days ago and we are all broken hearted for his family and the loss of a dear friend. We are praying for Garrett’s family and friends. Search your hearts, serve God and be kind to one another daily.,💔💔💔💔

  3. I only knew him through the one week I got to work with him and the time I’ve spent with his little brothers. My heart and prayers go out to this family. All of FLAG Camp staff have also been praying. We are greatly saddened by the loss of Garrett Stokes. Fly hight Garrett!

  4. People are often unreasonable, irrational, and self-centered. Forgive them anyway.

If you are kind, people may accuse you of selfish, ulterior motives. Be kind anyway.

If you are successful, you will win some unfaithful friends and some genuine enemies. Succeed anyway.

If you are honest and sincere people may deceive you. Be honest and sincere anyway.

What you spend years creating, others could destroy overnight. Create anyway.

If you find serenity and happiness, some may be jealous. Be happy anyway.

The good you do today, will often be forgotten. Do good anyway.

Give the best you have, and it will never be enough. Give your best anyway.

In the final analysis, it is between you and God. It was never between you and them anyway.

  6. My deepest sympathy to all of Garrett’s family and friends. The loss of one so young is a true tragedy, one that leaves deep scars and a large hole in our hearts. These losses can make us ask, “Why? Why does God allow us to suffer such pain?” I have wondered too when I lost someone I love.
I found a comfort in this and a few other articles.

It helped me cope with loss and gave me hope. May you find peace amidst your sorrow.

  7. Dear Stokes,
I’m so sorry for your loss. No family should have to go through this. I promise to keep the entire family, including Garrett, in my prayers. May God bless you

  8. Garret was a really good Friend and a really good convincer to get us out of trouble. It seems like just yesterday me him And Troy were at our Neighbourhood park sitting on top of a gazebo And then someone decided to call the cops on us and they came. When they got there I slowly tried walking away from it but then the cop started to ask for our parents numbers, the first thing Garrett said was ” ummm u can’t have my dads number”the cop said I’m gonna need to call your parents so yes I do then Garrett saved us all and said ” well I forgot my parents number and they don’t even have phones because I threw them in the water so they don’t know their parents number either” after that the cop just told us to not do it again and left. I never got to say thank you to him for getting me out of that but thank you Garrett thanks for the great friendship, the laughs, the awkward smiles,And just being around you in general you will be missed by everyone in the community I love you #flyhighgarrett
