The North Henderson Volleyball team rebounded with a win Tuesday night at East Henderson after they dropped their first conference game of the year at West Henderson last Thursday. The Lady Knights beat the Lady Eagles in three straight sets with scores of 25-11, 25-12 and 25-16.
In the first set, the team’s traded the lead multiple times, but the Lady Knights slowly overwhelmed their opponent and used multiple scoring streaks throughout the set to eventually beat East 25-11 in what was a strong set all around for the Lady Knights. “We won the serving game, and I felt like we served [the ball] to the right people in the right zones”, Coach Sue Moon said on her team’s performance in the first set.
It was all North once again in the second set as the team opened with a statement 5-0 lead. They continued their strong play with senior leadership from Caroline Marsh and Teegan Bullock as both players were essential parts by producing multiple kills and assists in North’s 25-12 second set win.
In the third set, with a new lineup, North fought a little harder to clinch their first conference win of the season. They started out with a 12-5 lead but East wouldn’t go down without a fight as they came within seven points of North Henderson. Although, a powerful rip ace by Caroline Marsh would end the third set and the match as the Lady Knights improved to 4-2 on the season and 1-1 in conference play.
The stat-sheet saw Caroline Marsh tally 18 kills and 9 digs, Teegan Bullock produce 17 assists, 8 digs and Zoe Phillips dish out five blocks.
Moving forward Coach Moon wants to see her team improve on the little things and make what they do good a little bit better as she mentioned. The team will get the chance to do just that tomorrow night as they travel to A.C. Reynolds in a non-conference game.
