The North Henderson Cross Country team kicked off its season in the sizzling heat at Jackson Park on Saturday. The team battled through the high temperatures and produced a solid day at the Cross Country Carnival.
The Knights placed second overall in the Men’s Invitational division (5K) with an average running time of 19:03.34 and only finished behind West Henderson. Leading the team in that race was Hunter White (3rd) and Dylan Christopher (4th). White, who is a sophomore, ran steadily in the top-three and had the lead multiple times, but ended up with an impressive time of 17:40.9 and only fell behind a senior and junior. Christopher followed White’s time with another impressive time of 17:48.7.
Cole Borlee finished 27th with a steady time of 19:38.2, Will Baldwin placed 40th and clocked a time of 19:50.5, Austin Endney finished 60th with a 20:18.4 time, Jose Rodriguez finished 78th with a time of 20:35.6 and Andrew Hernasy placed 83rd with a time of 20:46.6.
No North Henderson runner placed out of the Top 100 out of the 211 overall participants in the Boys 5k Invitational.
On the JV side, North placed sixth overall in the as junior Connor Wilderman led the Knights by placing 27th and clocked a time of 21:38.8.
For the girl’s action, Mackenzie Marrow finished 37th out of fifty runners as she ran a time of 18:22.5. Sullivan Thomas placed 49th with a time of 21:52.3.
The next meet for North is next Saturday, September 3rd at Montreat College in Montreat, North Carolina.
