North Henderson’s Volleyball team swept Asheville yesterday winning both JV and Varsity matches. JV took their match 2-0 winning both sets by a score of 25-12. Varsity won 3 sets to none, 25-10, 25-13, and 25-16.

It was a pleasing victory to Head Coach Sue Moon. “It’s always good to get that first win, plus on the road” Moon said. “Asheville’s athletic, they’re new to volleyball but they’re athletic, and we got everybody in, got to see what they could do, and see what we got to go in the gym and work on tomorrow.”

Senior Defensive Specialist/Libero Camryn Nicholson added “It feels good to start my last season off with a win, I can’t wait to see how the rest of the season will go”. When asked what’s it like entering her final season Nicholson said, “It feels bittersweet, I’m glad to be graduating but I’m sad to leave volleyball, the sport that I love”.

You could tell the passion behind Camryn’s quotes, but the real passion is what she and the rest of the Lady Knights showed on the court. They came out firing on all cylinders taking the first two sets with ease. The 3rd set however started out slow, taking their first lead up 13-12. After that the pedal was to the metal and the Lady Knights took home their first victory of the 2016 season.

Saturday, August 20th they travel to Davidson College (Davidson, N.C.) for the “Best of the Best Tournament” which they won in 2014. Matches start at 9:00 AM.
