The Knights Men’s Soccer team kicked off their season yesterday on the first official day for games for fall sports against Enka. Last season they finished right at .500 in both overall and conference play at 12-12 and 7-7 in the Western North Carolina Athletic Conference. Muggy as usual in the evening in North Carolina, the Knights came prepared.

For most of the first half, the game was tied 0-0 until 12:44 to go in the 40 min period when Enka got things started. Going into halftime the Jets held an edge with a 1-0 lead. They extended their lead with 28:13 to go in the 2nd half. Then on the attack came Ronaldo Alveranga at the 22:49 mark to put the Knights on the board.

The rest of the half seemed to be calm until around 7 minutes to go when North pushed to tie it up and so they did. With 6:41 to go Anselmo Castillo got the ball close to 10 yards off the midline and he was off to the races.

It seemed to be all North after that until a kick from midfield landed in the goal at the 5:04 mark giving Enka a 3-2 advantage. They added another goal with 1:25 left to give Enka a 4-2 win.

The Jets moved to 1-0 and the Knights move to 0-1 on the season. The next game for North will be Wednesday, August 16th, at Highlands. Game time set for 6:00 PM.
